Author Profiles

Your personal home on Centrist. A Profile introduces who you are as a writer and collects all your published analysis in one place. Perfect for independent journalists, commentators, and subject-matter experts looking to build a personal brand and dedicated following.

Collaborative Pages

Dedicated spaces organised around specific topics or organisations. Pages allow you to invite other writers to collaborate, making them ideal for think tanks, research groups, or editorial teams wanting to co-locate and publish their research collectively.

Our editorial approach

What we look for

  • Political Insight:Content that informs Kiwis about current political, economic and social realities in New Zealand.
  • Evidence First:We value serious analysis over shallow hot takes. Support your claims with evidence, link to your sources, and build a clear, well-reasoned argument.
  • Serious Investigative Reporting:If you've done the hard work to uncover facts or analyse policy data, Centrist is the place to share this.

What we avoid

To maintain Centrist's high standards, our moderation team strictly enforces editorial guidelines. Declining:

  • Heavily plagiarised or AI-generated material that lacks original thought.
  • Defamatory content or personal attacks.
  • Unsupported conspiracy theories.
  • Articles that lack basic structure and clear grammar.

How to create a Page

Pages are collaborative spaces for groups of writers, or for authors to gather their content together around a topic. If you want to create a Page, simply head to your profile and click "Create New Page".

A dialogue will prompt you to enter a name for your Page, add a page banner image, and pick a theme colour.

Once your Page is created, you can invite other writers to collaborate with you, and start drafting content directly within the Page.

To invite other writers to collaborate on your Page, simply go to the Page and enter their Centrist handle. They will receive an invitation to join the Page and can start contributing content once they accept.
